Timken Opens New Bearing Plant in Romania to Produce Tapered Roller Bearings 20 July 2017

Timken provided tours and held grand opening ceremonies at its new plant near Ploiesti, Romania. The facility is the company’s second in Romania and caters to the global demand for highly engineered Timken® tapered roller bearings in sizes up to 300 mm in diameter.

Located on a 15,000-square-meter site and built at a cost of nearly $60 million, the state-of-the art facility will initially employ 120 associates.

Rich Kyle, Timken CEO, said, “I’m delighted to launch our second plant in Romania. It strengthens our footprint in Europe and further equips us to meet local and global customer needs. This investment advances the company’s strategic growth plan for geographic expansion, competitive manufacturing and accelerating product development.”

The tapered roller bearings made at this new facility are used in applications that include construction and agricultural equipment, haul trucks and cranes. The plant serves original equipment manufacturers directly and reaches end users through the company’s global network of industrial distributors.

Timken operates 73 manufacturing plants and service centers around the world, including eight European facilities located in Italy, France, Poland, Romania and the United Kingdom.
